Alex Mora, born in Bogota, Colombia in 1983, founded Xelaarom Photography in 2009 but first showed interest in photography at a young age in Colombia. Mora began his professional career in photography in New York City working for EventBrite and Guest of a Guest and eventually moving on to shoot for private events and patrons. Despite a humble demeanor and critique of his own work, Mora is known to want to show people “what they have been missing, what they could be experiencing if they opened their eyes a bit more.” Mora believes that a good photo draws our attention to objects and spaces that we tend to take for granted due to the tedious monotony of daily routine. Mora’s work is interested in time and the preserving of the captured image, “I want to show people how beautiful [a] moment is; you won’t be able to live that moment forever. When I have taken a good photo, I feel like I’ve accomplished something. Like I’ve done something good.” Alex Mora currently resides in Lyndhurst, New Jersey and continues to pursue photography both personally and professionally.
